US-based fee calculators are wrong for Canada. HST gets charged on fees, Poshmark adds a flat minimum, Facebook doesn't charge 5% locally, and Vinted is free for sellers. These are the real numbers, pulled from each platform's own fee pages on October 18, 2026 β the same numbers powering the calculator above.
| Platform | Seller fee | Per-order / flat | Tax on fee | Shipping |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| eBay.ca | 13.6% most (15.3% media, 13.25% cards/coins) | $0.40 (>$10) / $0.30 (β€$10) | Yes, on fee | You arrange; FVF includes shipping |
| Facebook Marketplace (shipped) | 10%, min $0.80 | $0.80 flat on orders β€$8 | Yes, on fee | You ship |
| Facebook Marketplace (pickup) | $0 | β | β | Buyer picks up |
| Kijiji | $0 commission (buy/sell categories) | β | β | Buyer picks up |
| Poshmark Canada | 20% (β₯$20) / flat $3.95 (<$20) | $3.95 minimum | Yes, on fee | Prepaid label included |
| Etsy Canada | 6.5% + 3% + $0.25 processing | $0.27 listing per item | Yes, on fees | You set it |
| Vinted Canada | $0 seller fee | β | β | Prepaid label included |
| Depop Canada | 10% selling fee still applies in CA + processing | 10% + ~3.3% + $0.45 est. | Verify | You ship |
Search any flipping forum and you'll see βFacebook Marketplace takes 5%.β That's a US number from years ago β and it never applied to local pickup. In Canada, the reality today: 10% on shipped sales through Meta's checkout (minimum $0.80), $0 for local pickup. Read the full Facebook Marketplace Canada fee breakdown with worked examples. If you hand the buyer the item in a parking lot, you keep every dollar.
Facebook, Poshmark, Etsy and Kijiji's paid tiers add GST/HST on top of their own fee. In Ontario that's another 13% of the fee. On a $300 Poshmark sale: 20% = $60 commission, plus $7.80 HST on it. Most napkin-math sellers forget this line and wonder why the payout is short. FlipMath adds it automatically based on your province.
You buy an iPad Air for $120 and it sells for $320 with $13 shipping. In Ontario, after fees, tax-on-fees and item cost (the $13 shipping passes through β buyer pays it, you pay the label), you actually keep:
| Where it sold | Fees + tax on fees | You keep |
|---|---|---|
| eBay.ca | $58.28 | $141.72 |
| Poshmark | $72.32 (label incl.) | $127.68 |
| Facebook shipped | $42.52 | $157.48 |
| Kijiji / FB local / Vinted | $0 | $200.00 |
Same item, same price β a $72.32 spread decided entirely by where you listed it. That's why the βwhere to sellβ tab exists.
No. Shipped sales with Meta checkout cost 10% (minimum $0.80) in Canada as of October 2026. Local pickup sales are free. The 5% figure is an old US fee that no longer applies.
eBay.ca charges a 13.6% final value fee on most categories (15.3% for books, music and movies; 13.25% for trading cards, comics and coins) plus a $0.40 per-order fee for orders over $10 ($0.30 otherwise). You get 250 free listings per month, then insertion costs $0.30 each. GST/HST is added on the fee β and the percentage is charged on the shipping and sales tax your buyer paid too. Read the full eBay.ca fee breakdown with a worked example.
Yes β Vinted Canada charges sellers $0. The buyer pays a protection fee (~5% + $0.70). You ship with Vinted's prepaid label, and the label cost is deducted from your payout or paid by the buyer depending on your listing choice. Sellers also pay $0 on Kijiji and Facebook local pickup β while Poshmark Canada takes 20% plus HST on the fee (and a flat $3.95 on small sales). Read the full Vinted Canada fee guide.
In the buy/sell categories, yes: no commission and free listings. Kijiji only charges for featured/promoted ads, and separately for vehicles, jobs, real estate and services. See the full Kijiji fee guide for what actually costs money.
For local pickup deals: Kijiji and Facebook local are $0. For shipped fashion: Vinted ($0 seller fee). For everything shipped outside fashion, Facebook Marketplace at 10% usually beats eBay.ca's 13.6% β but eBay often delivers higher sale prices and faster turnover, which is why you compare net, not fee percentage.
On Poshmark and Vinted, the platform's prepaid label is included (buyer typically pays the shipping line). On eBay, Facebook and Depop you arrange shipping β price it into the item or charge the buyer. The calculator has a shipping field for exactly this.
