Canadian reseller fee guide · October 2026
In 2024 Depop announced it was scrapping its selling fee — and that story made every reseller news feed. What the headlines skipped: the removal was for US and UK sellers only. Canadian sellers still pay a ~10% selling fee on the item plus shipping, and payment processing of roughly 3.3% + $0.45 on top. If you priced your Depop closet like a US seller, you've been giving away a tenth of every sale.
| Depop fee (Canada) | Rate | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Selling fee | ~10% | item + shipping |
| Payment processing | ~3.3% + $0.45 | item + shipping |
| Listing fee | $0 | — |
Worked example — $100 item + $13 shipping, Ontario: 10% + 3.3% on $113 = $15.03, plus $0.45 = $15.48 total, leaving $84.52 before your costs. Rates as analyzed October 2026 — verify the exact current fee in your Depop app, because Depop's marketing pages for Canada sometimes say "0% selling fees" while the app still deducts one.
| Platform | Fees + tax on fees | You keep* |
|---|---|---|
| Kijiji / FB local / Vinted | $0.00 | $100.00 |
| Etsy Canada | $12.72 | $87.28 |
| Facebook — shipped | $14.43 | $85.57 |
| Depop Canada | $15.48 | $84.52 |
| eBay.ca | $20.08 | $79.92 |
| Poshmark Canada | $22.60 | $77.40 |
*After fees only; item cost not deducted. eBay/Facebook/Etsy/Depop figures assume $13 shipping charged to the buyer (pass-through). Vinted buyers pay their own label; Vinted/Kijiji/local sellers pay $0.
Mid-pack on fees. Depop's real case isn't the fee — it's the buyer: streetwear, sneakers, Y2K vintage, and a younger audience that pays hype prices. A $120 vintage tee that sits unsold on Vinted can move in a week on Depop. The platform premium question is always "does Depop's audience pay more than Depop's fee costs?" — and that's per-item, not per-platform.
The reliable number is the deduction on a real sale, in the app, under your earnings tab — not marketing pages. Sell something cheap, check the exact deduction, and plug that percentage into your pricing. Fee labels in-app also show the split between selling fee and payment processing at checkout.
The selling fee is calculated on the item plus shipping when the buyer pays shipping through the app. If you ship outside Depop's label system, the fee base can differ — but shipping off-platform costs you seller protection. Assume fees on your full buyer total when pricing.
Vinted is $0 for Canadian sellers, so for pure commodity fashion it dominates Depop. But fee percentage is only half the equation — price realized and sale speed matter more. Crosslist both, track what actually sells where, and let your own data decide. That's exactly what FlipMath's comparison tab computes per item.
Buyer-side fees shape what buyers will bid, which shapes your ask. If your buyer sees protection fees at checkout, their offer drops accordingly. Watch your category's realized prices, not just your fee schedule.
